Playa Venao is a magical place, but it would definitely not be the same without its people. We had the chance to interview Jessanya and Buggi, an inspiring couple that has been sharing their arts with the community for 3 years already. In this article, learn more about their background and vision regarding Playa Venao.
Meet Jessanya & Buggi
Jessanya is a certified yoga and Pilates teacher. Wellness enthusiast from New York, she is the founder of PALOGA and lover of the earth. Buggi is a DJ and music producer from Germany. He likes sports and culture like music, fashion, art and social life. How did they end up in Venao ? They both came during the year 2020 to do what they love : Jessanya wanted to live in a remote beach bubble while teaching yoga and enjoying life, connection, and freedom, while Buggi came first to play at a festival named Upside Down.
But what made them choose to stay permanently in Venao ? A will to experience some life changes appears to be a motivation for the couple :
“I chose to stay in Venao (or come back after a brief time living in Berlin) because of the energy it holds, the people it attracts, and the community that created it. The magic!! And it was a non-negotiable in my life at the time to live no farther than a 5 minutes walk from the ocean, the shoe fits.” – Jessanya
“After working and studying in Germany for 4+ years in the real estate market, I was looking for a longer experience abroad – and by the way, nothing is more beautiful than a well-traveled human being.” – Buggi
Jessanya also mentions that she did not expect to stay that long in Venao, up to the point where some of her friends from New York started to move here too.
When asked about their lifestyle in Playa Venao, both of them mentioned the importance of wellness activities, like doing yoga, meditation, or practicing arts.
The special energy of Playa Venao
Jessanya and Buggi put the emphasis on the special energy and creativity that is happening in the magical beach town.

“What is interesting in Venao is that a lot of people who came here come from different backgrounds. […] There is a lot of rawness happening.” – Buggi
When explaining the special energy that exists in this remote paradise, the couple expresses it as a creative force. Buggi explains that it enables people to collaborate, learn from others and open their mindset. He also mentions his gratitude for all the perspective shifting conversations he had here. Jessanya compares it to a blank canva :
“The magic of Venao, the yoga lifestyle and just to flow is that you don’t really know what’s gonna happen next. […] It’s a creative space, when you have a blank canva like Venao is, you can do anything.” – Jessanya
From this interview, it seems clear that Venao is definitely a special place that attracts a lot of different people. We must say that the best way to understand it is probably to come visit and experience it for yourself…and also to meet the special people that form its community!
