Interacción
Our property managers (Pucha and Charlie) live in Blue and speak native English and Spanish. They have over 50 years combined in the area and are as local as one can get. They will treat you like family and go out of their way to make sure you have a safe and enjoyable vacation while in Playa Venao.
Vecindario
The home is located in a peaceful, low key community where neighbors value privacy, quiet, and a relaxed pace. It is an ideal setting for guests who want a true retreat to rest and recharge, while still having quick access to everything Playa Venao offers. Playa Venao is a relaxed surf beach town on Panama’s Azuero Peninsula, set on a scenic crescent bay with consistent waves and warm water. The vibe is international and laid back, with surf schools and shops, yoga and wellness offerings, and a growing mix of restaurants and laid back beach spots. Fishing is also a major draw, with local captains and charters offering inshore and offshore trips. On some weekends and during special events, the beach scene can get lively, with music and occasional festival-style parties that may run late. During these occasions, Casa Maitri’s hilltop setting is typically quieter than the main beach zone, offering a peaceful respite from the lively buzz below. Nature lovers can catch sea turtle nesting season in Playa Venao from July through the end of October, with hatchlings typically emerging about 50 to 60 days later. Humpback whale season runs from late July through October, with September often the peak. Birdwatching and everyday wildlife sightings are also a highlight in the area.

Tránsito
Car recommended: A vehicle is the easiest way to get around for surf boards, groceries, and evenings out. AWD is highly recommended. Parking: Two cars can park on the flat area at the top of the driveway, with additional parking available below along the sloped entrance. Walking: The beach and town are walkable from the home for those who enjoy a bit of exercise, about a 20 minute walk from the house to the sand. Once you are at the beach, restaurants, shops, and most of Playa Venao’s main spots are easily walkable. Please note the walk back includes a steep uphill section near the home. Taxis and drivers: There are currently limited taxi options in Playa Venao. Private drivers may be available, but service can be limited and planning ahead is recommended. Bikes, scooters, and golf carts/ATV: Rentals are sometimes available locally. Please note the hill, road conditions, and low lighting in some areas can make riding more challenging, especially at night or after rain. Airport and transfers: We can help coordinate airport pickups and dropoffs and transportation throughout Panama, with shuttle and private driver options tailored to your schedule and group size. There are also regular flights from Panama City’s Albrook Airport (Marcos A. Gelabert) to Pedasi on select days, with flight time typically around 40 to 45 minutes, followed by about a 30 to 35 minute drive to Playa Venao.
Notas
* Separate casita on property: Self contained with its own private entrance, occasionally occupied by a long term renter. No shared spaces. Main home guests have full privacy. * Backup power: Hybrid solar provides backup during grid outages for essential systems. A/C and electric stovetop and oven are not powered during outages. Gas grill available. * Pool Information: The pool is a saltwater pool and is professionally maintained once a week on Wednesday afternoons. Because the pool is surrounded by jungle, you may occasionally see leaves, flowers, or other natural debris in the water, especially during the dry season or on windy days. A skimmer is provided so you can easily remove anything as needed. * Playa Venao growth: Occasional daytime building noise may be heard nearby. * Pets and allergies: No pets allowed for short term stays. The home is not a pet free environment for guests with allergies.
